The Joy of Cooking

I felt happy when I read on the Huffington Post that Irma Rombauer, a St. Louis widow, took her life savings and self-published “The Joy of Cooking.”

Her daughter tested recipes and created the illustrations and they sold the book from Irma’s apartment. The book is now published by Simon & Schuster.

Hope is always around!

Where’s the Beef? Not where it should be.

Maybe you’ve not seen the decades-old commercial before with its tag line, ‘Where’s the Beef?’, a popular advertising slogan in its day. A cute little old lady wants to know where the beef is. Fast forward to an article about an analysis done of McDonald’s hamburger meat by independent clinical pathologists. We need an army of little old ladies to demand where the beef is since the analysis found that the meat consisted primarily of nerve, gristle, muscle, and parasites, with a nice helping of ammonia on top.

Maybe some improvement has taken place?

So, if you would rather avoid factory raised animals who are over-chemicalized to compensate for the questionable conditions they are raised in, and eat real meat, these two resources may be of help.
